Drew's 6

Last Tuesday, the 13th, Drew turned 6.  I can't believe my little baby is 6.  Just a few minutes ago I was looking through the hundreds of pictures Tripp has taken of Drew wondering where the years have gone.  Making memories together and creating traditions within our home is so important to me and I really seek to do that as often as possible, especially for birthdays.

So we celebrated with a science party.  Drew is so much like his daddy.  He loves learning about new things, he's a very logical thinker, he's organized (sometimes), and he loves to do experiments.  We got him a science experiment kit for his birthday last year and not too many weeks have gone by without him asking if we can make the volcano with the red food coloring.

Drew and his friends had such a fun time with all the experiments I had planned.  They made color changing milk, duck sounds with a straw, and had fun with our homemade balloon rocket.  We also talked about our sense of smell and blind-folded the kids and let them smell a variety of things from the kitchen.  After smelling each food item I asked the kids to tell me their guesses as to what it was.  The funniest quote of the day was when I wafted some onion in front of one of the little boy's nose and he responded with, "yummmm, that smells just like chocolate chips!"

Here are a few things Drew's into right now:
*He still LOVES legos - just got The Lego Ideas Book in the mail for Christmas (thanks Granddad!)
*He really enjoys school.  Ok maybe just the fun parts like art and doing science experiments.
*He loves to read.  Tripp has been reading through the Little House series with the kids.  Sometime Ella and Roman will join in but Drew begs to be read to every.single.night.
*He loves building things.  He and Tripp are in the process of building a model F-15 airplane together.
*Drew is a typical rowdy little boy.  He loves to wrestle, put Ella in headlocks, and scream at the top of his lungs while dragging Roman's B (stuffed bear) around the house.
*Drew is still into drawing and produces some pretty amazing pictures.  One of his favorite things to draw is of course airplanes, Spitfires in particular.

We had such a wonderful day celebrating Drew's life and thank God for giving us this blessing.
Happy Birthday Sweet Boy!!!!
